A Word About The Words
The Hebrew terms on this site represent core principles (Middot) of Jewish belief. To us, they are words to live by. For a translation and examples of how we live our faith, mouse-over the words on each page.
BZBI hosts chapters of Kadima and United Synagogue Youth (USY), programs affiliated with the United Synagogue of Conservative Judaism.
Membership in Kadima brings together Jewish kids in a spirit of friendship and service as they participate in fun activities of all kinds.
Students in the 5th through 7th grades get together at least once a month for activities including social justice programs, Jewish holiday celebrations, and charity work such as cooking for the needy and packaging food for BZBI’s Mitzvah Food Pantry.
For more information on Kadima, call the temple office, or email templeoffice@bzbi.org.
USY is committed to fostering positive Jewish experiences for Conservative youth through leadership training, Jewish worship, programming, outings, and commitment to Zionism and Israel.
Students in the 8th through 12th grades participate in events throughout the calendar year that provide opportunities for Jewish friendships to grow. Teens govern themselves with elected officers who set the agenda, aided by an adult advisor. The BZBI chapter is part of an international organization that holds conventions, regional events, and dances, and participates in tikkun olam projects as well.
For more information on USY, email templeoffice@bzbi.org, or call the temple office.
"I have been a part of Hagesher USY for the last four years, and I feel lucky to be connected to a closely-connected regional group. More than just geographically, we are a community . This is something special in my life that I hope other teens are involved with and enjoy like I do." - Julian Robins
"As USY membership/Kadima vice president I can say that Kadima is a great way to have fun with a group of Jewish kids in Upper Elementary and Middle School. We have had lots of great activities in Kadima - from having a sleepover at the aquarium, to having fun in Franklin Square park. Let me be the first to invite you to be part of this fun-loving Kadima at BZBI." - Goldie Robins
