It is only when you truly belong to our community that it truly belongs to you. The time and energy our congregants invest in community activities is returned with very high interest.

Green Team
BZBI is starting a Green Team, focused on educating our congregation and community about how to be more environmentally friendly. We are looking for input from the congregation through a short survey. Click here and give us your feedback -- it is critical for getting the Green Team off the ground. Thanks in advance for your input.

Youth Activities
BZBI offers two programs for center city Jewish youth: Kadima (which means forward in Hebrew) for grades 5-7, and USY (United Synagogue Youth) for grades 8-12. The groups meet monthly for social activities. Activities such as rock climbing, skiing, ice skating, bowling, Latkepalooza at the Gershman Y, local and regional trips, dances, social action projects and conventions help our youth form lasting friendships in the Jewish community.

20sand30s@bzbi
20sand30s@bzbi is a community of Jewish graduate students and young professionals in their 20s and 30s, both couples and singles and Temple Beth Zion-Beth Israel members and non-members. Our programming is created by the 20sand30s@bzbi community for the 20sand30s@bzbi community. You are welcome to join our team anytime to help plan and implement programming according to the time and energy that you have available in your busy schedule. For more information, to be added to our event email update list and/or to become one of our “helpers” email us at 20sand30s@bzbi.org.

Committees
BZBI committees are the driving force of our vibrant congregational life. Opportunities for involvement span all facets of synagogue and community participation. The strengths and skills of our members who are willing to give of themselves and their time make BZBI the center of Conservative Judiasm in Center City

Membership
There is something for everyone at BZBI. We’re the heart of Conservative Judaism in center city Philadelphia, and we’re here every day sharing your celebrations, your sorrows, your learning and growing – your Jewish life. Our egalitarian, inclusive and open-minded approach allows members to feel comfortable and at home no matter what their level of Jewish religious observance may be.

Sisterhood
Our Sisterhood strives to support Temple Beth Zion-Beth Israel in all its endeavors. One of our principal missions is to support The Jewish Theological Seminary of America, which trains rabbis, cantors, teachers and future leaders in the Jewish community. We raise funds to build and maintain dormitories, libraries and computer labs. At Temple BZBI, we support education through scholarships and program funding for the Neziner Hebrew School, the Abigail R. Cohen Preschool and the Laurie Wagman Playschool. Our activities include weekly study with the Rabbi, holiday lunches, guest speakers, day trips and running our beautiful gift shop.

Men’s Club
Temple Beth Zion-Beth Israel’s Men’s Club is affiliated with the Federation of Jewish Men’s Clubs and its Middle Atlantic Region. Our Men’s Club provides services and programming ranging from High Holy Day ushering to congregation-wide events, from educational and recreational programming to raising funds for the Youth Commission and Camp Ramah. We encourage involvement and participation in our local programs and regional and national activities such as World Wide Tefillin Wrap, Men’s Club Shabbat, Yom HaShoah Yellow Candle Program and support of the Conservative Movement and Masorti.
